I have a Killer Bee DX 250 HDV Linear amplifier, that I am having trouble with, It works absolutely fine as far as amplification but as soon as you turn on the amp it kills the recieve on the cb radio, and its not just one, I tried several different radio's and the same thing,With the knob turned to medium it dead keys about 80 and swings to 120 but no Reception,,,, Also this amp has a switch in the back near the power wires, but there is no lable as to what it does, I flipped it but there was no difference on the Recieve or the transmit, Please give me any suggestions as to what may be wrong, I love the looks of this Amp and want to run it in my truck thanx in advance for any help.

P.s. Looks just like the Texas Star amps but is Black and yellow and has a Picture of a bee on the front,great looking amp, but whats a good looking amp if it doesn't work right???????lol |

well i had the same trouble with a palomar,i took the cover off of the relay and cleaned the contacts with a peice of emery cloth.try that first,you can also us a peice of 1000 grit sand paper or try contact cleaner. |

Thanx, I did notice with my other amp as soon as you turn it on the recieve is briefly interupted by the amp but then a relay clicks and its back on within half a second of turning on the amp, when I turn on the Killer bee, it does not click, so maybe the relay is stuck and won't let it recieve, Thanx for the help I just wanted to make sure, before I torn into it that my hunch could possibly make since. (I wonder what this little amp is capable of??????) thanx

Ck the small transistors I had the same prob with my texas Star 350hd and it WAS the transistors replaced them and the amp works fine |

cool thanx alot. Is the 2n4401 a transistor that I can get at radio shack, there are two of the same transistors in there I would like to just replace them both, thanx again,

They did not have them at my Rad Shak I went and got them at R&L Electronics (local) Yuo might call Mouser or www.mouser.com and see if they have them |
