Just received my new 44 from Copper and I love it.I had Copper do the tune up and conversion.My question is with the tune up how many watts is it putting out,and is the wattage low enough with the RF power turned all the way down,low enough to run my 100 watt amp?Also what would be a good mic to use on this radio?

Wattage probably is not low enough to drive the amp you will have to turn it down. You would most likely want to drive your amp at 1 1/2 watts, Put your wattmeter inline and see what the power level is with the RF Power turned counter-clockwise. If it's around 1 1/2 watts you should be fine. If not you will need to turn it down inside.

Adjust vr 16 for 1w carrier with a 100w amp that DOES NOT use a Toshiba final, 1.5w with an amp WITH a Toshiba final.
The Astatic D104M6b is a good mike with that radio, or surprisingly the stock mike isn't that bad. |

Thanks for the help Tech's.I was thinking of getting a Road King.I tried a Cobra power mic and it wouldn't stop squeling even with my mic gain a quarter of the way up.

A noise cancelling mic like the Road King will definately reduce feedback when the talkback is in use.
