I just bought a texas star and wanted to get it modified I was told that it's just like a connex 3300 and all that you had to do was put a diode in and it would change the dead key and improve the modulation. Tried that (I looked inside my 3300 and did it just like the 3000 however it didn't work). are they ther same? or can you tell me how to modify it, I certainly would appreciate it. OH one more thing with the echo on the radio squeels. again thanks. |

There is no modification to a Texas Star that I know of other than the changeover modification. They do just fine stock.

If I understand you correctly the modification that causes the radio to swing and boost the modulation i.e. adding a ziner diode will not work on the Texas Star, I've tried adding a ziner diode like my Connex 3300 however it doesn't reduce the carrier at all. I appreciate your research and help.

jake, i think you may thinking of texas ranger(radio) not texas star(amp). depending on which tx rngr radio you have the diode trick will work. |

I just got a chance to check this post again and the radio is a texas star and it looks like a connex board that's why I thought that you could add a zener diod and make it swing with a low carier. |

That is a very early generation Galaxy. They were notorious for drifting (worse than the 3600 chassis) and low power output compared to late models. I'm sure if you compare the schematics you'll find the correlating spot for the diode. |
