well I did it again .I bought a used mirage 2950 and it talked for 2 weeks.now it does not transmitt on any band,no carrier at all.receive is fine and you can get modulation out of the pa system.with a radio in the same room it sounds as if it is trying to send a signal.you can here the mic sort of pop when keyed and no modulation or rf on the meters .any help would be great.thanks sonoma

did some voltage checks and tested the curcuit for bad solder joints and none found.a local tech is stumped on it also.transmit light comes on also when keyed but no rf leaving the 2950.this type of radio is more complicated than any thing else I have seen.

try and give us a few more details on what is happening when you key the mic. does it produce a carrier? will it modulate the carrier? what mods have been done? when was the last time you remember it working properly? when you say it wont transmit at all on CW, did you try plugging a key into the 1/8" jack on the back or are you just keying the mic? how do you know the SSB works fine?
help us help you.

It worked fine last week that was the last time I used it. It started transmiting eraticlly, now no transmit at all on am, fm or cw and yes I plugged a key into the jack and tryed it it seems it works well on ssb rec and transmit. NO mods I hate messing with a good thing! If it ain't broke don't fix it.

hmmm, i was thinking it might be a broken mic wire, but you say no carrier on am or fm and good signal on ssb? is this with the radio's bar graph or with a wattmeter. im curious how many watts you're putting out on ssb, because im thinking you might have a bad final or driver or both. that radio uses two 2sc1969 finals, and im not sure what would happen if one went bad. i'll check my voltage chart when i get home tonite and tell you the correct voltages you should see from the finals and driver. check back tomorrow evening.

what was i thinking! the 2950 uses two 2sc2312's for finals. anyway, here are the voltages that i have.
Q46 (2sc2312)-B- .68 am tx, .71 ssb tx with mod.
-C-4.15 am rx, 3.8 am tx, 13.25 ssb rx, 12.6 ssb tx (15.11 with mod.),
-E- 0.00 am and ssb, tx and rx.

Q47 (2sc2312) -B- .58 am tx, .71 ssb tx with mod.
-C- 4.15 am rx, 3.8 am tx, 13.25 ssb rx, 12.6 ssb tx (15.11 with mod.)
-E- 0.00 am and ssb, rx and tx.

Q48 (2sc2166) -B- .74 am tx, .74 ssb tx.
-C- 4.15 am rx, 3.88 am tx, 13.25 ssb rx, 12.75 ssb tx,
-E- 0.00 am and ssb, rx and tx.

hope this helps you. sorry for the wait.
