I have heard of and have myself, problems with my Magnum 257 where the volume is full blast when the radio is turned on.

I have seen instances where Magnum has replaced the volume pots to attempt to fix this problem.

I have also heard, and believed myself that the radio needs to "warm up" before the volume levels out. I do not believe this to be the case.

I talked on my radio the entire way home from work (23 miles), turned the radio off for 10 minutes, turned it back on and still had the same problem.

I would like to track this problem down. If anyone has any feedback, it would be appreciated.

Magnum Knows about the problem and will repair it even if the radio has been modified...ask them:)
