i have a uniden grant xl / ts350 in a 1999 gmc p/u 105alt with a wilson 1000 and i have a 9ft jumper and a 12ft to the antenna of rg8mini

I'm guessing you are feeding the amp with 8ga or better for hot and ground direct from battery? Your AM carrier is between 1w and 1.5w? If so then try different jumper length such as 6' or 12', possibly 18'. Sounds crazy but usually works.
