have a galaxy 99 that doesnt tx it doesnt even key up rx is ok when mic is keyed it cuts the rx but puts out no signal and the red light for tx in the meter doesnt come on has no effect on another radio sitting rite beside it does anyone have a suggestion to what it might be??

There is one diode under the microphone jack on the main board OR the two keying transistors (8V Supply) that most likely are the problem PENDING your mic is not bad.

good god you answered this the first day and i couldnt find where i posted it till now this forum has a lot on here any way i replaced tr38 and 39 i think that was the other cause someone said that might be it but no good i need to try and find out what diode under mic your talking about? this might give you an idea whats wrong i was trying to change the roger beep and i think i touched something i shouldnt have but havent figured out what i still had talkback but no tx on radio with the mod that puts the resistor on solder side of board and rx is fine thanks for all help you can give

It is a black zener diode , 7.8 volt right smack under the mic jack circuit board.

307 KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT FOR SURE,
i cant believe how easy that was for you when i have asked i dont know how many people for ideas of what was wrong and most mentioned the transistors you did so i changed them but nobody ever said anything about the diode so thanks a million i just keyed it up for the first time in about 2 months BUT the volume was real high 1 minute and the next its low wide open and i couldnt hear it very well i might as well ask about this while im talking to someone that probably knows whats wrong??

Do you hear the squelch "pop" when you turn it even though the audio is low?
Does your "S" meter work?

307 i got some thing loose in the radio thats making the volume drop when i hit a bump tap the radio and it comes back or goes lower ill have to take it back apart and check all the solder connections i made thats most likely where ill find it thanks for all your expert advice

what state is 307 in?would be nice if youre in central fl then maybe you could fix my radios for me |

i wonder where? maybe he dont want to fix my radios he might be to busy, to tell you the truth i didnt think there was anyone around fla that knows what they are doin at least i have not found them yet of course i like to try to do some of this myself but it would be nice to know where someone is that could fixem if i goof whoooooops |

Email me direct at tech307@copperelectronics.com . I had a guy that wanted something fixed , sent his radio to Copper , Copper sent it to me as usual , I fixed it and sent it back only to find out he lives 2 miles from me...hehehehe

307 thats what the 99 that I was talking about to you. Volume up till you key up and talk a few seconds and down again then a second later it comes up loud. |

flash that sucks dont it mine is still doin that to if i tap the radio it comes back sometimes but other times it gets lower and lower and sometimes volume comes back up when i hit the mic button for a sec got to be something loose i just havent found it but i need to quick its contagious the rx on my 2950 just went to it wont come back its just real low like you have the volume only turned about a quarter inch sooooo anyone got a suggestion |

flash, yes i did maybe cold solder joint somewhere but i havent been trying to fix it lately it works ok as long as i leave it in the house once i put it in the car and hit some bumps is when i have problems i think ill take it apart in the morning and resolder all of them i replaced and try that |
