I have a cobra 29 LTD classic that was peaked and tuned right after i bought it.
I just ordered a palomar 250 to play with. Now, the input power for the 250 is I believe 2 to 4 watts.
Since my radio is peaked and tuned, do i have to Undo what was done to get my 2-4 deadkey watts?
How do i Turn it down when i want to use the amp and turn it up when i dont? Is that even possible??

you can have someone install a variable power on the radio to adjust the output but what you need is a wattmeter to see what the radio is doin now cause most of the time when they peak and tune a radio they set it at a low dead key and set it to swing on up so your radio is probably good but you need to put it on a meter and check for sure that amp will probably work better with around a 1 watt deadkey they usually sound best with as low a deadkey you can put in it that will make the amp kick in

Shrek,
With typical standard peak of that radio the carrier is 5-6w, way too much. The carrier needs to be suppressed while maintaining forward power. If you have a good iron and soldering skill I'll walk you through it via email.
