Okay this is probably a dumb question but it is real. What is the difference between a true HF amplifier (say Ameritron, ICOM, or manufacture of your choice) and the Industrial/Medical/Export amps available? I know approved HF amps cost thousands of $$$ but what is the deal? FCC approval?? I know it's something significant so maybe I'll ask a different way. What would it take for the FCC to approve a KLV-550 for HF use in America? or is that even possible? Why so high of cost?
