I NPC-RC moded my VR9K. Appearently its an AM only mod. I was wondering if anyone who done this mod also runs a speech clipper (CBCI or SP1A) for SSB? I'd like to know if the installation is the same (with or
without NPC-RC mod) and if it actually performs with this mod. THANX in advance

Monster,

I have the VR9K and have it peaked & tuned and have always had good / excellent reports on AM & SSB.

On one I sold to a friend we done the NPC-RC mod listed here in the Forum and neither he nor I really liked it so we took it out after doing it.

I have never used the speech clipper (CBCI or SP1A) so can not help you there but maybe someone out there has.

I talk with my friend every night on my VR9K and he on his on SSB and have always had GOOD / CLEAR
modulation.

The only Addition we have added to the radios is we both use the ASTATIC RD104E ROAD DEVIL POWER HAND MIC's (Black)also come in red.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah I've a few Road Devils on hand, I like them better than the D104s bcuz they have the noise cancelling circuit. I agree they do compliment the a finely tuned V9K!
