I just hooked up my brand spanking new palomar 250. It sends great, but when i turn the preamp on it cuts my recieve in half instead of amplifing it...Is it worth even sending it back if its transmitting good???????

I would say you have two choices. 1)Send it back for replacement, hopes that you don't get another one like it,or 2) if you can live without the rx amp, keep it. JMO

Check to make sure your coax cables aren't backwards going into the amp.

yes you would and the amp would probly make a horrible clicking sound or grinding sound or any horrible sound from having it hooked up backwards and keying down.

SHREX,I AGREE WITH DX431 about the pre amp, I have two of the 250, base and mobil, the pre amp most of the time just brings in noise, either replace it or let it go, or if you are like me you will have to get it fixed or it will kill you.
