I HAVE A COBRA 29LTD CLASSIC THAT HASN'T BEEN USED IN ABOUT 6 YRS.IT WORKED FINE LAST TIME I USED IT AND THE OTHER DAY I HOOKED IT UP AND MY RX SOUNDS LIKE EVERYONE IS OFF FREQ.AND MY TX EVERYONE SAYS IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M FREQ..IT ALL SOUNDS GARBLED.I PUT IT ON MY WATT METER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND IT WILL ONLY DEAD KEY ABOUT 1/2 WATT AND SWINGS AROUND 2 WATTS.BUT WHEN ON MY METER WHEN I KEY UP THE NEEDLE WILL MOVE BACK AND FORTH FROM 2 WATTS TO 3 WATTS VERY FAST,KINDA LIKE FLUXUATING REAL FAST.ANY IDES WHAT COULD BE WRONG?? I'VE CHECKED RF AND DRIVER FINALS AND THEY SEEM TO BE OK.THANKS FOR ANY INFO,HOTROD..

6 years? I would say try plugging in an external speaker. The voice coil is most likely froze up..That is my guess for the "off freq" sound. As for the low power , transformers (coils) degrade over time and it probably needs an alignment.

I TRIED AN EXTERNAL SPEAKER AND IT STILL SOUNDS OFF FREQ.KINDA WEIRD BUT MAYBE WE CAN FIGURE IT OUT.THANKS FOR THE HELP 307,HOTROD..
