I'm wanting to replace the small unlighted s-meter on my Harris R-2368 receiver with a larger/ lighted/external one. Anyone know of a good external S-Meter? Can I just take the two wires off the back of the original meter and run them to the new meter?

yeah you could run the wires to the new meter and it should work.

Workman Electronics use to make a large face S-Meter that would solve your problem, however it's not as simple as hooking up the two wires that you described. I know they are still around because here in the midwest they are plentiful. Wildbill
