I know you want to do it yourself AND I'm not sure what 307 did to my DX2517,BUT it sure is LOUD!! ON TRANSMIT.It deadkeys 2 watts and swings 16 on am on ssb she KICKS B U TT NEARLY 40watts.I bought it brand new and had them do the work,it was worth it.Maybe he could do the same for you, just ask him.

The board is simmilar to the EPT-6950 board in the 2950DX and the circuit in question IS identical. Cut or remove R301 to open-up AM modulation (SSB mod will be untouched). Add a 100 ohm resistor to a 1N4001 diode and add this combination parralel with R292 with the cathode of the diode to the right (when looking front to back). These parts are hard to locate without the parts layout. A pdf-file of the service manual with the layout should be on the RCI website.

nobody wants to do it the easy way,you screw it up you eat it,they screw it up they eat it,and you get a new radio. And to say that's how you learn that's bull, you go to school for training then you do the job with confidence knowing you will do it correctly, that's how you learn, period!!But don't mind me,besides who am I anyway, just someone who cares whether or not you blow 400 to 1000$ doing a trick mod.
