I'm in the process of setting up s base station and my home is surrounded by trees, big trees! 70 to 80 foot tall oak, magnolia and pecan trees. Wife won't let me cut'em either!
I have a unused 30' wooden electrical pole butted up against my house, had a tv antenna on it but I went to DSS and did away with the antenna.
I'm probably going to put up a Imax2000 or either an old A/S Super scanner I have that is in good shape.
Anything I can do to get some decent signal other than selling the house and moving?

The trees will have no effect on your 27 MHz. signals. Get your antenna on that pole, run a ground wire from the base of the antenna to a ground rod at the base of the wood pole, use good coax, and have fun.
The trees will help your 'stealth' profile. |

It's been about 25 years since I put away the old cb's but I figured it was about time to get back with it. I just hope the old Tram D201 still works. |

if all else fails put your antenna in one of the trees. i run an antron 99 and a magnum 44, both are great and both of them are in mine pine trees that are about 80 ft in the air. i run two antennas for one reason monitoring all though neither of the two radios are run at the same time. Yes i could use a switch box but i got bored but anyway 73's and god less |

A friend of mine had an antron in a big pine tree that used to grow on his property near where his house used to be,lightening hit the tree,get the picture.Listen to tech833 and your house will probably last a long time.Let the trees be a shield for your antenna not a booster. |

If you've never seen a big stick type antenna splintered by lightning you've missed a sight indeed. I've seen them with the fiberglassed just shredded as if the antenna burst out. That's what happened!
