Hello
Id like to know how well you like that TOP ONE you have. Is it pretty broadbanded and what kind of SWRS do you see at the top and the bottom of the CB channels? I have a original Astroplane but im curious about the TOP ONE as well. Does it perform much like the astroplane on DX conditions? |

Hi Hoosier,
I replaced a A.P. that was in sad shape with the Top One. I noticed no difference at all in signals or bandwidth.
I did do a little work to the Top One before it went up to improve the strength. I also sprayed some protective coating on the plastic parts to help them last longer.
I get better than 10 dB return loss from 25.5 to 28.5 MHz. The Top One is mounted only 15 feet above ground at an AM transmitter site with the antenna grounded to the AM's ground system. On 10 meters with 25 watts, I get mistaken for being on my old mega-power base all the time.
I'm in-between houses at the moment (living out of boxes in an apartment for a couple more months) so except when I'm at the above mentioned transmitter site, I'm 10-7. When the new house is done and I build my new station, I plan to move the Top One there. Except, at the new house it will be on top of a tower. |

Hey Hoos, Just logged on to the forum and saw this message!
The Top One is working great. Under 2:1 SWR from 25.xx to almost 29.0 MHz. just like 833 said.
I don't get to log on here much anymore. It's my 'busy season'. See you guys some more around Winter.

HAM CBer is near Livermore, CA. I am out of Valley Springs with offices in Stockton, CA.
HAM CBer's station is impressive, even by broadcaster's standards. I am currently without a station. Big difference.
