For my going back to old school project I've been looking for a Cobra 148F GTL but no luck. In your opinion how does the Texas Ranger 696F (mobile) measure up to the Cobra ie... modulation,mods(channels), and overall quality. I'm going to be running one of these radios with a Magnaforce 350 and my astatic 636L in the mobile. |

You can still get the "F" on ebay however the Texas Ranger 696F Mobile is about as close as you can get. The channel mod is different though , you add two switches in line with two wires from the channel selector for extra channels. The modulation is better than the Cobra in my opinion..Good for the price..
