I have a Texas Star 350hd. The amp works well except for the preamp, when you turn the preamp on the receive goes dead. If you turn the preamp off it comes back. Does anyone have any ideas??

Replace BOTH the small black transitors , (2N4401 OR 2N3907)One is keying , the other is RX pre-amp. I say replace both because it is easier for you to do them both then me trying to explain which one. This will fix the problem

You were right on. I replaced those two and the amp is working well
