Thanks so much for the help and advice. I replaced the IC and got the modulation working on AM,USB&LSB I took a headset and plugged it in the external speaker jack with the volume wide open and If you really listen you can hear people talking,no S-meter movement.Oh the PA works now and the squelch works. Got any more parts that need replacing so far so good, know if we just can fix the receive problem, I'll replace any part that you think might help. Again all of your research and help is so much appreciated, thanks Liz.

Hmmm....Try to replace in this order...TR-14 , Tr-16 and then test the RF Gain..Does it work?
