i have a Uniden PC66xl with very low recieve , have peaked it out in the adjustment but can still only pick up real close stations, any help?

I know in the pc68xl is vr2 rx if gain,vr1 is receive meter,vr3 tx meter,vr4 squelch. it might be vr1 rx gain in the 66xl been so long since had that radio. try at own risk though.
