Hey 307 I have a Galaxy 44V that continually shows a dead key. If I key up my mike it talks ok but when I release the dead key masks the receive. If I key up a handheld clode to th eradio it shows the increased s units but receive is really muffled. I've searched the component board for any out of the ordinary mods but can't find anything but the standard cut R249. Any ideas ? |

There are two transistors in the front right corner under the microphone plug. I could tell you the designator but it may not be the same in your rig. It is the two transistors that are closest to front right corner. There also is a zener diode in the same area , directly under the mic plug , it may be bad as well , doubtful though. Is the LED Yellow when keyed up or Red? If it is Yellow , it is because the Red and Green are both on indicating the two transistors referenced above. Let me know... |

OK 307 here is an update. I just pulled the only transistor that was present in the area that you mentioned and the dead key is now gone so I guess I'm on the right track thanks to you. The transistor has small writing on it it looks like it says Top row: C0 or 9 245 and the bottom looks like P821. If you could tell me what this transistor deignation is I could probably get one tommorrow at RS. |

307 the LED lights up red as normal when keyed. |

Hmmm , The two you want are...TR36 and TR38 , they are 2SA1282 transistors...replace them both. The one you pulled is about 1/8 inch from the two listed above.. |

307 I finallly got around to the electronics store and they brought a 2SA1282 up to the counter and it looks nothing like what I pulled. I thne showed them the transistors nad they said they crossed to a NTE21 but they only had one. Do you know anywhere that I could order a pair from ? Thanks |
