I have an older President Thomas J.
Sat in closet for last 6 years, but am getting back into CB now. Would like to get it peaked,to use until I can afford a Grant XL setup.
Any help, what to turn etc.,and where to find necessary diagrams would be helpful.
Thanks in advance......Hank

Sure...

1) Adjust L21,L20,L17,L16 and L14 in this order for max power output.
2)VR4 is the AMC , Crank it up.

That should do it...

another dumb question...when I used to build "Heathkit" kits..I remember using a plastic "screwdriver" to tune things...fight magnetic interference I guess.....do you recommend doing this when "peaking"...or doesn't a metal screwdriver matter any???

Plastic IS better although you can use metal , you just have to calculate a little ahead or behind when you remove it...

Went to a local cb shop today.asked the guy there about adding (in theory of course) "extra channels" to my radio. His opinion was that "lower" channels were better than "upper".....
then said that it was easier to do an old Midland 40 to lowers than my President/Uniden 40 ch models....mentioned that the pll ic was easier to get to drop down.....
is this so??
or is it no big deal.....
I prefer unidens myself....have a Thomas J..
a uniden pc 66....and am looking for a Dwight D/or Washington base ..and want them all to get same "extra freqs"....is this reasonable???
or am I off base??
