I was thinking about buying a KL-400 or 500 but somebody told me that an amp in my truck would mess up the computer. Just wanted to check before I purchased one. I got a 97 Dodge Ram. Thanks for any input

The KL400 will work fine in your rig. Install with 10ga fine strand wire direct to battery, use an antenna rated to at least 500w, and make sure your radio is set for app. 2-2.5w carrier output.
