I saw a 'recommended' mod for the Ranger TR-676/Galaxy DX-959 to change the final from its original to the 2SB817. The claim is the '817 is a heavy duty version.

What do you think? Worthwhile? Or is the 'dual final' mod a better way to go (I don't need higher power, I just like the radio to loaf along).

No need for that in the 959 chassis as they don't do as much wattage (amp draw) as the export chassis.

Is the 2SB817 a direct replacement for the 2SC1969C as a final or is it more a kin to the 2SB754?
