Ok, suppose I have a rci that peaks at 150 watts on am. I have a 600 watt mobile amp for those times I want a little more power. Will the radio damage the amp, even though the amp is off. When the amp is on I can run the radio at 5 watts in, but when I turn the amp off and run the radio at the full 150 watts what happens to the amp?

When the amp is off the radio signal bypasses the amp circuitry in the amp and flows straight through pretty much. BE CAREFUL and REMEMBER to turn the radio back down when you kick on the amp. I fried an amp that way, and it's easy to forget you had it turned up.

yes it would,id rather put a amp behind it that could take its full output just in case.
