I have a chance to purchase a 4 pill amp with 2879 pills. The problem is that this amp requires 4 gauge wire, and amp draw is 100 amps. Hypothetically, can I use this amp with 8 gauge wire? I don't plan on using a "Driver", so I think that the maximum amp draw will be 55-65 amps. My alternator is rated at 115 amps. Will this set-up work??

One other fact, I'll be using a 4 watt drive Uniden 78 LTW with this amp. I know that 4 watts will nowhere near drive these 4 pills to their full potential, but I'm more interest in amp draw conservation, using my 8 guage wire. If this can work, what would be my RMS/Peak??

Sure it will work, output will be maybe 150 rms and 300-350 peak with amp draw around 50-60.

Wow!! I have a 2 pill palomar red devil amp with the same pills, that will do the same rms/peak as the above amp, and it only draws about 26-28 amps!! "talk about underdriven". My little 4 watts drive won't do that 4 pill "ANY" justice. Maybe that's where the 4 guage comes in, wider river more water(current). I'd be wasting my money to boot, buying that amp with 2 extra pills, doing the same rms/peak as my 2 pill. Well,
you've made my mind up. It's back to my trusty Palomar 450Ab-1 HD. Thanks, tech 671.
