does this radio have the same clarifier setup as a galaxy 88 . where the counter moves uning the course (tx and rx) or fine(rx only). i have found this makes it tough to tx on freq. the counter moves on recieve but your transmit really didn't.

Yes the clarifier is the same. As a matter of fact, they are the same radio except the Connex has more frequencies plus a 6 digit frequency counter where the Galaxy has only a 5 digit counter.
Your clarifier problem will be solved buy opening the fine-tune so transmit and receive will track the same as the course tune does.
