I have a cobra 89 XLR that will only work with with one of my 60+ microphones. It sounds off freq when I try any other mic. I also have a uniden PC76XL that sounds muffled and bassy with all mics except an older cobra power mic. Years ago I went to a CB tech at the Jolly truck stop outside of Wichita Falls TX and prior to peaking a radio for me he asked "is this the mic you're going to use on this radio" ? Is there a way to match a mic to a radio and adjusting the tone quality of the mic for that particular radio ?
