I am looking to get 2 or 3 radios for my brothers trucks. Just wondering if it would be more cost effective to get the TR-396F and add channels or go with the Galaxy-55V which is what I run myself? Also if the TR would be better what would the frequency range of them be? I'm guessing about 26.515 up to 27.855 unless they are more limited for range than I suspect. Thanks |

You didn't say just how many frequencies you actually need.
But, for a bare-bones AM-FM truck radio, the Galaxy 55 is a very good choice. And cheap too. They can be real screamers after a (correctly done) NPC mod.
And don't forget the fact that what ever band/channel combination you guys go to, it will always be the same per radio.
Also, if you're going to play on frequencies above or well below the CB band, DO NOT skimp on the antennas. Get a good one such as the Anttron 1700. It is a 6 foot (2' glass, 4' whip) antenna.
According to Kenny at Anttron, this antenna is a halfwave and was built with a wide bandpass in mind. It will broadband (depends where mounted) at least 1.7 Mhz as long as it is grounded properly and used with 18 feet of "GOOD" coax.
I use these antennas on all of my personal vehicles with great results and have sold and mounted many of them on commercial trucks. You won't be disappointed.
