got a 77 galaxy- when on lsb there is no noise thru the speaker. no rx or tx at all. usb seems to be ok.any info on what could be blown in the board , need help ASAP. thanks

I would say the LSB Reference oscillator is dead. Most likely the crystal.

could you tell me the numbers marked on the board, for the lsb ref. osc. and crystal?if i don't want to attempt to do this myself how expensive would be if i sent the radio to you, so you can fix it?p.s. by the way-this is a gem of a radio- from which i got burnt with on ebay. thanks again

It is most likely the 10.6975 crystal , here is a block of the DX 88 which is close...

since it isn't rxing/txing at all on lsb, i'd say check the "mode" switching circuits (mainly diodes and coils). these modes (am,lsb,usb,fm) all share the same xtals. the xtals are just "shifted" for each mode. usually if a xtal is bad it will tx/rx in all modes but be off (and unadjustable) in that 1 mode. since your other modes are working, and lsb isn't at all, i don't think that it is an xtal.

Hi thanks for the info but,I got fed up looking at this radio and sent it back to galaxy to see if they will fix it for me. I will let you all know what happens when I find out thanks to everyone for the input

Just got my galaxy 77 back, the work order with it said they had to repair trace on board for lsb function. Very pleased with Galaxys work. the radio works great! Thanks for everyones input Gary
