I am running a Maco Alpha V5/8 but was thinking about getting a Maco M103C to mount horizontal underneath it. I was wondering if this would hurt the performance of the omni and,if not,how high above the beam I should mount the omni? THANKS! |

No problem at all. Mount as high or low as you like above the beam. |

I had been thinking about the same type of setup. Only I was wondering what effect (if any) will there be on the SWR's or pattern's of the v5/8 (or the M103c)? |

None to the omni. If the omni's ground planes are too close to the beam, it may affect the takeoff angle, front to back ratio, or SWR of the beam.
I don't think I read your post completely before I submitted my former reply. I was thinking Imax 2000 for some reason. The V-5/8 has ground planes! Please allow me to partially retract some of my previous post. Keep the ground planes of the V-5/8 at least 5 feet above the beam. Also, be sure that the ground planes of the V-5/8 are not at right angles to the beam's boom or elements. Instead, turn it so the ground planes look more like an 'X' in relation to the beam.
Another trick would be to shorten the ground planes on the Maco. It would not have much effect on the Maco, but would help your beam. |
