First time posting to CEF, I like the new sight. My question is: I bought a used Ranger 6900F-Turbo but it has too much echo and there is not a variable control like on talk-back. How do I adjust the echo on this Ranger?

Thanks

PS: How do I registor for this sight to get a password?

I am not sure , but I do believe that there may be an adjustment or two on the echo board itself , some do some don't. Look at it and see , if there is then that is what you adjust to control the amount of echo.

Thanks 307 But is that all there is to it? Is there a number or letter/number by it,or will it say echo somewhere on it? Thanks again 73s to you.

Thats it IF there are adjustments on it. Some have them some don't. There will be two adjustments most likey on it , set them to the way you like. If there are no adjustments , it is a fixed setup and requires a little more.

I have owned a 6900F and the echo worked perfectly until I had the radio super tuned .Then the echo went wild .I never tryed to see if it could be fixed , I sold it.Certainly not recommending that you sell it ,it's a fine radio.

Vernonott Yes its a fine radio and I think I fixed it with the help of 307. Found the echo board and adjueted both pods. Sounds a lot better now. Not sooo much echo now. And with echo off it dosen't sound like I'am talking in a silo. I run the echo off most of the time anyway. Thanks again-73s

Ok this is great if you are familiar with the inside of radios, but for those of us wo are not, how about some detailed info, like where in the radio is the echo board, what do the adjustments look like, are they numbered? You see when asking a question of someone knowledgeable of a subject, they tend to assume the person asking has "some" understanding. By having a technical forum where detailed procedures are glossed over, guess work and trial and error begin, wich is exactly what you get when you do not have a technical forum.

Ok,the echo board in the 6900f has only echo on and echo off switch on the front of radio. If it has been tuned up the reverb will amplify with the switch off and the echo will amplify with the switch on. So,you have to go inside the radio. Take speaker side off and with radio upside down the echo board will be inside a small silver case on the right side of radio, about 2x3 with wires attached to it #EPTOSSB50F. Pop the cover off of it and you should see two gold tuning adjustments. The one on the left is the adjustment for echo switch on and the right one is for reverb when switch is off.Turn them however you would like. Set them with talkback on.You might set them on SSB because it amplifies more than AM mode.Hope this helps
