I was reading the new Copper's News about the Galaxy 48T. It says it has two power transistors and generates 50 watts. I have a DX-2517 that generates right at 30 watts p.e.p.. Should my 2517 be doing better than that? The News states that both radios contain the same board. Is there something wrong with my 2517, should I not be getting higher power than that? Readings taken on a.m. with Dosy meter. I have other radios that readings indicate the meter to be right. The only thing I can think of is that the 2517 only has one final, that could make the difference, but I'm not sure. Help please..... |

Nothing wrong with your 2517 - it has two finals, but different devices from the finals in the 48T. The boards are both the EPT6900xx, but the final sections are not the same. Also, the 48T is AM/FM only. The components that would give it SSB capability are missing from the board! |

Thanks Highlander and Bigbob. I see the difference now. The finals are there but different sizes. I knew I could find an answer here and it looks like I came to the right place. Have a good one and thanks again. |
