Hi all,
ok long story short i know nothing about resistors, capacitors, etc..... but do know howto solder thats a + i guess lol and willing to learn.
i have a uniden 510XL it transmits, and recieves, but no audio, so i took it apart and found in the very far top left corner holding radio with antenna connector facing away from you was a burnt piece. i do know that on the board it says L8
This burnt piece is round, and black about 1/4 inch high 1/8 inch thick i removed it from the board on the other end looks like something was attached to it then it went into the board but its so burnt i cannot tell i dont have any schematics nor dont know howto read them.
but if someone can tell me what L8 is what else is connected to it if anything, i appreciate it
i have a local radio shack store that i can get parts from if someone knows what i need. thanx for your help |

Waffle...I believe what you have is a choke(L8) hooked to a resistor(L48) I will look and see if I can find the values for you. Maybe someone has a better schematic than me??

Looks like R48 is a 1/8 watt 15K Ohm Resistor I cant seem to find the value for L8. It looks like it says LO987 below it. Might do a search on digi-key and turn up something

Ill be surprised if those parts were at fault and have probaly acted as a fuse feeding a failed semiconductor or shorted capacitor in the line. Keep checking further with your multimeter checking resistance to ground. Anything under 20 ~ 50 ohms means trouble.Dont burn out the replacement parts before you find the real trouble. |
