Where can one get combiners to combine the inputs and outputs of say 2 boomer 400s to be driven by a DX2517 into one antenna,I thought of using two co-phase harnesses for in and out,but if the impedances of the amps aren't exactly the same it could mean trouble,I found a website 2-years ago for external combiners but lost the address when my puter puked it's guts,so Tech 833 I hope you can help me,because I was considering doing this with three KLV550s and this site had combiners that could be stacked to run 2,3,4,or 8 amps at once,my lord think of the possibilities!Bigbob.

Tech-833 may have missed this one but I'd like to give you my opinion on the subject if you don't mind.

First of all, you have me somewhat confused as to why you would want to go to the expence of doing this where there is so little results.

Lets use your Boomer 400s for an example. I'm sure I don't have to remind you that by putting another identical amplifier in parellel with the one you already have, doubling power will give you about a 3 Db increase in gain but on the receive end, that equates to only a 1 S-unit increase. To me, the gain wouldn't be worth the bother or expense.

After that, there wouldn't be another S-unit increase until THAT 800 watts of power has been doubled. Now we're up to 1600 watts from 4 Boomer 400s. And the overall results are a 2 S-unit increase.

You could almost get the same results by putting your original 400 watts into a 4 element beam. There, a multification factor comes into the equasion.

Personally, I believe that the money you spend on the added amplifiers could be better spent on one amplifier that will produce 1KW or better. And there would be much less fooling around with coax and Combiners to get the same results that you would get with 4 Boomer 400s.

These are just my thoughts and opinions here and I could be completely wrong. Your post has been sitting since the 6th and I've been thinking about it ever since. Lol. And that's the problem I have with you Bob. You either are having me laughing from the funny posts you make, or you are making me think. Either way is fine with me.

the boomer 400s are small potatoes,forget the klv550s,suppose 8-klv2000s driven by a klv550,by a 2517,the 8-unit combiners are rated at 20 killowatts,and are 150$ apiece and only two are required and they balance the impedences so the outputs are equal,a 12000 watt amp I think would be much more expensive?Oh and 3db would only provide 1/2S-unit at the remote reciever,how many db is 1000 times multiplication,20db?

Forget my last post I found the site,boy is my memory BAD,can't use that much wattage 8x400 is the highest I can go,alltho they have a double that will combine 2 6000watt units.

Lol. Sounds like all you need to do now Bob is find an antenna that will easily handle 120 KW.

It shouldn't make any difference what channel my radio is on when I turn it on. I'm sure you'll be heard on all of them.

Please excuse me now while I go and read the Spec sheet for my radio. I want to see if they list the specs for "Adjacent Band Rejection".

Forget the adjacent band rejection, look for the adjacent planet rejection spec!

Only kidding BigBob...Even if they had a combiner to handle the power I suspect the phase shift created by the amps, even though one would assume them to be identical, ,would be great enough to cause excecssive heat dissipation and/or high regenerative mixing to occur in the combiner. And considering the cleanliness of the amps mentioned while attempting to operate class A or AB1 I suspect the distortion created by the contraption would be overwelming as well. And what a power supply it would take to run that!

Just check the site for Werlatone combiners and dividers,they go clear up into microwave applications.
