307 I ahave a midland 77-285 radio that doe4sn't key up right away. I mean that when I key the mic it takes from 2 to 5 secnds for the radio to kick in. The mic's OK 'cause I've checked it out on other radios. Any suggestions ? Also I have never been able to modify this radio to go out of band. I have looked for the solder points that have to be undone to open it up but every instruction I've seen seems to be talking about a different radio as this one does not have the contacts that the mods say.

Sounds like a bad capacitor in the keying circuit. You probably have one that is open.
