Does anyone know if this particular radio can be wide-banded on xmit and rx? If so, how is it done? I would like to use it on the FRS Band. Any info would be appreciated and thank you. Unit199, Harve |

Your HTX is a 2-meter VHF radio only. It will not work on UHF frequencies. And that is where the FRS band is. They're way up in the 462Mhz range. Find yourself a UHF modifiable radio if you want to get to the FRS band.
You can however expand the VHF TX frequency range with this radio. Here is the modification but if you're not a Ham, I wouldn't suggest doing it. The new frequencies can't be used anyways so what's the point.

Press and hold "SC" while turning radio on.
This opens up transmit from 142.000 to 149.885.
To remove the mod just repeat the sequence.
