this is probably a stupid question but im a new cb'r and a new ham but anyway where would you hook your ground wire if you were grounding a a99 antenna(i mean where would i hook it to the antenna)to ground it |

does an atenna (A99) performs better when the ground is wet? it seems my rqdio puts out better and hears better after a rain ? the base is just setting on the ground. it is guyed down good and clamped on the pole, its about 35 foot above the ground ? thanks |

Do you have any other ground on the antenna system? Could be that the moisture from the rain is improving your ground and therefore improving your system's performance.

Pound a copper rod in the ground and connect it to your antenna base (assuming the base is well connected to the base of the A99). Then your signal will not change with rain.
Now, if you have lousy ground conductivity in your area, that's different. You'll need an even longer rod! |
