I have a old 606 one tube amp. that I would like to rebuild just for the hell of it it has (3) 47uf 450 volt caps in it that look very old and (8)1n4005 diods on the same board that look ancient on the same board for the rectifier. my plan is to make a new board with better componates.
any suggestions for up grade I want to keep the same lay out that is being employed. (I did up grade from the 6lq6 to a el509)

On a single el509 tube el509 amp Id go three 450v 60uf caps to get a nice 20uf total. That suits this setup. If you have the tune setup nice, 45w in will give a nice result but no more recommended as it will flatten.

i just refitted my old phantom 500's with new caps and rectifier diodes.

i used 8-220uf 400v caps and 1n5408 diodes in the newer amp.

the older d&a i gathered 8 good stock 100uf 350v,100uf 350v caps (untill i reorder some like above) and also used the 1n5408 diodes in this one as well.

i also used those diodes in my sb220.
