Hello,
My friend is going to buy a VR-9000 from Copper as his first Export radio. He would like to run a KL-203 amp with it in the future.
When Copper does it's conversion and tune can the dead key be set on low power to be 1 Watt and then swing the rest so that it would fit the 203 in the future?

you do not want that radio to key 1w and then swing the rest(i am guessing you mean swing to its max power) this will overdrive that amp. not to mention that the radio will sound like &^%$ if ran 'barefooted'.

all you need to do is tell copper to set low power on that radio for the 203.

Yes you are correct that is what I meant but I figured max on low to be 20 Watts of swing.
If Copper sets it for the 203 can he run say a 500 the same way later if he wanted to?
I would assume yes?
I want him to get a simple radio he can grow with over time and will not limit him. He is on a limited budget and there is no radio that can touch the 9000 bang for the buck. I want one myself from Copper and if I get a new radio this radio is it.
Thank you.

yes he will be able to run a 500w with that radio later. he'll just need a little higher carrier for the 500.
