1. Is 213 the same diameter as mini8?
2. What is the difference besides power handling capability?
3. This is for my other postings.
If I wanted to talk in the 25 MHZ range could I use a antenna switch and two antenna's to cover the 25-30 MHZ range?

RG8 & RG213 = 3/8 inch Round
Mini-8 = 1/4 Inch Round

RG8 & RG213 More Durable / Rugged for Base Station Use.

RG213 Handles More Power

Mini 8 Very Flexable

Hope this helps.

For 99% of us RG-(mini)8 is all you will need under 50 foot..... i use it from 1-450 mhz and never had a problem with it. There in little sence using anything else at cb under 1000 watts at least in the car.

sg569, keep you BIG "8"
SHIELD % and cable QUALITY is more important than just the size/type of coax:
'99 durango, grant xl, 2-454 amp and 5" mag mount w/ wilson 2K-works 'good', swr's real good(on radio's meter), WELL under 1.5 ch1-40,---
obviously CHEAP rg58 is not changeable, performance dx & local is good, but idiot lites on dashboard look like a disco...and wipers, front & back wave at me when keying!
switch ant & mount to astatic 3kl w/3-5" mag mount & rg8x cable that has the most AWESOME shield i've ever seen on 8x, it took several attempts to figure the best way to spread it back to get it over ug176s adaptor to solder it, this stuff is THICK & TIGHTLY woven. results were impressive-no affects on idiot lites, and with stereo on, audio would NOT overpower/overload stereo speakers! and wipers stayed off til I turned 'em on! that was w/ 1X4-2879 box dk 300watts on bird! while in driveway, tvi was impressive, though.
3rd test placed intl type 9086 supercable, 95%shield + foil shield & EXTREMELY low loss rating, and tvi was vitually eliminated. of course i can't close the door tight, but coax is efficient!
i'd say for newer computer controlled vehicles, radio shack is not the place to get coax from, spend the $$ & get mount & QUALITY coax!

Patzerozero,
'85 toy p/u, Grantxl,102 ss,swr 1-40, 1.1:1, above 40 flat 1. I like my big coax. it has served me well in 3 or4 different mobiles, with same results, Only one small prob, I just ran it too close to stereo amp, can't run palomar red devil 350r, Squeeals like a stuck pig.I'll have to find a new grommet to modify to re-run coax.
