Sorry,

I can't help you with that as I have never installed a Super Talk Kit or even know what one is.

I always installed a 1N4001 ~ 1N4004 Diode instead of the Super Talk Kits.

Maybe someone who has installed one can help you.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I'll try to give you an answer.

Yes you can, BUT, you are taking the chance of front-end overload by no longer having control of sensitivity. In other words, a near by transmitter could easily take out the receiver's front end of the radio. Especially if they are keying into an amplifier.

I have installed many of these. You could have done the same thing yourself with about 89 cents worth of parts from Radio Shack. However, this "Supertalk Kit" works nicely with a lowdrive linear. When installed and used correctly, the results are pretty good.

Remember though, all this thing is doing is giving you the ability to turn your RF power UP and Dn. In no way shape or form will it give you more power. All it is doing is varying the already availible RF power. As you turn the power down, the modulation comes up. Turning the power UP only gives you less modulation and you're right back where you started from.

Installing a 2SC-1969 final and setting the power at 1.5-2 watts would have guarenteed you a minimun of at least 18-20 watt swing with massive audio.

Personally, I am not a fan of these Supertalk Kits. There are just too many modifications out there that can be done to these radios that will blow the Supertalk Kits right out of the water. Check out the archives on this forum and I'm sure you will find plenty of information on these radios. Mods for your radio are the same for the Cobra 25 and Cobra 29. All of these are pretty much the same radio but with different features and with Uniden using better wire and a much better PC board.

i know its old, but a 1.2k ohm 1/2 watt resistor on the unused termanal will do the trick...then just hook it up normally...1 to center 2 to other side.
