The talkback on this stock(except conversion)radio is poor with echo on. It's broken and sounds like it's riding a wave, the volume comes and goes. Audio on TX is just fine when this occurs. Don't use talkback other than to set echo...but still would like to correct this. Any suggestions?

You TB will actually improve when the radio is tuned. The TB is operated somwhat from the audio limiting circuit. With the radio being stock the limiter engaging in and out causes irratic volume and distortion in the TB.
Poor grounding of radio and/or antenna, poor swr are also contributors to poor sounding TB.
The TB in all the Galaxy/Ranger radios isn't that great anyway compared to the Magnum counterparts, but it can be better than you're experiencing.
