What tube are you wanting to use? Somebody else might have already tried it and can tell you if it will work. You might also look up the specs on a 6LQ6 and see if you can work the problem backwards. 10 times what is required for each tube will tell you what the transformer can supply. Not sure if those specs are available, just an idea.

jp1116,

thanks for the reply,

i have looked up the specs on the tube, and ive come up with 1.1 amps for a 10 tube and 1.32 amps for the 12 tube amp. both using 3 of the same kind of xformers.

least the ones ive seen anyway.

so one would reason if all 3 were put in parallel they'd produce at least the total sum of the max curent draw of 12 6lq6 @ .110ma per tube.

its just hard to believe those little transformers can do that, thats fairly healthy amperage.

ive got a pair of 920vt/.250ma transformers in a single 3-500z box that are twice the size of those in the phantom.

voltage on the phantom is at 965 measured at plate choke on high and 482 on low.

i was going to refit with the easy swap el509's but that would still have run 250 bucks for the conversion.

for tubes and sockets since my phantom has no pin 9 insert in them.

so im looking at either a pair or maybe three metal/ceramic triodes. similar to the 3cx400

its a total rebuild not just a mod and i will have to make a dubbler for the high voltage.

im thinking ive got enuff transformer to pull the draw of 2 of these easy at .6 ma for the pair but if they will pull 3 at around 1 amp then id like to make it a 3 tube amp.

this is why id really like to know for sure the output of the transformers, so i know if i should make my tube chamber for a pair or for triplets

thanks
