HAVE TRY UNHOOKING WHAT EVER MIGHT CAUSE THE CASE TO BE HOT, WILL NOT BLOW FUSE AS LONG AS IT ON THE WORK TABLE, TRANSMITS AND RECEIVE FINE,THIS IS A NEW 29 LTD (VIRGIN) ANYONE RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM?

yes, check to makes sure that the final and driver have insulators behind them. also check to make sure that the screw that holds these trans to the chassis also have their insulator. i can't remember if the am modulator is bolted to the chassis of the radio in this model or not(its late and i'm tired), if so check for the same problems. i'm pretty sure it is bolted to the chassis...but...like i said.

TECH 8541 FOUND IT AFTER DOUBLE CHECKING EVER THING AGAIN IT WAS AN CAP. BOARD TO CASE THANK'S BOB

man, i see now that i was pretty tired. i said am modulator and this is a cobra 29, -no- am modulator. i had the 148 on my mind for some reason even though it clearly says 29 in the title of your post.
