I have an old super mag ground plane ant. and wanted to know what people thought about them. When I bought it back in the late 70's it was the hottest ant. going. It was preferred at the time over the star duster which was also popular as well in the 70's. Lets hear what old cb'ers think. The young operators probably dont even know what Im talking about. But if you have been in the buisness as long as I have you'll know.

Webmaster, I think I replied to this post several days ago but I do not see it. If I did not, please let me know. I would like to respond. If I did post and you just have not got around to it, then don't post this.

Roger, I know nothing about the super mag GP. Are you talking about Antenna Specialists old Mighty Mag III?

It had shortened ground radials with loading coils and wire tips at the ends. The stinger had two wires serving as a cap hat at the tip.

My recollection is that it was about as good a the old CLR II's. I think they were also limited to about 300 watts input also, not sure though.
Haven't seem one in a very long time and I do not remember how they were rated.

Super maggies? yes they are a pretty decent antenna. My dad had one back in the 1960s and 1970s and loved it!
Im 28 years old and still remember seeing it up on the house up until about 1985 when it was removed...

Roger, if you are still around, what happened on the antenna? I somehow missed this post. I had a Super Mag back in mid 70's and it worked great. If you are still around, let us know if you got it and put it up, and the results.

Hey folks, guess what!! I found a BRAND NEW Antenna Specialists Super Mag Antenna still in the box. I paid to much, but I knew what I was getting. Hope to get it up soon.
