Ok I still have engine noise coming through the radio, I put a heavy duty noise filter on the hot wire, moved the ground more to the rear of the car and am still getting the noise (kill the engine and the noise is gone) tThe only thing I haven't done is put a noise Supressor or filter on the antenna. What else can be done.

Matt : First you have to figure out exactly where the noise is coming from.A high pitch whine that increases with engine speed points directly to the alternator.Some alternators have a condenser mounted on them.Some have internal noise suppression.Any good auto electric shop can check out your electrical system.Another noise can come from your ignition system which usually has a sort of popping sound or buzzing sound.This can be bad plug wires or spark plugs or incorrect wires and plugs for the application.Once you pinpoint the problem area you start there to eliminate the headache.Last but not least in rare cases some vehicles have a high level of static electricity which can only be eliminated by installing some type of ground strap under the vehicle out of sight long enough to touch the pavement.Good luck! |

look into radio shack part #273-105 and put one on each of the fuel injector wires. they cost $5 each. but ask around for more imput before you buy. there is a little more info at http://www.dtbradio.com/tips.html |

Well I thought that the problem was taken care of but when I got home it was as bad as before, it is a high pitch whine that stays at one level until you kill the engine. It seemed as if it got louder as the night went on but doesn't go up and down with engine speed it just stays the same, since I work nights and am in the car most of the night it's really getting on my last nerve. 619 I will try those parts and see what happens, Vernonott,619 thanks for the help.

Matt,
Could be the fuel pump? With the engine off, turn on your radio, and then turn the ignition to the ON position but do not start the engine. The fuel pump should kick in at this point. Listen for the whine you describe over your radio.

I did what you said and I had to really listen but I hear a whine but it was only for a second and then it stopped, I don't know if this fuel pump keeps running when the lines are full or not but I will check with the shop. If it is the fuel pump how can I fix it? |

As soon as you get a certain fuel pressure, the pump shuts off on a Ford and many others. Sounds like a fuel pump whine to me from what you have written. |

Well I ran the power supply wire to a differant part of the fuse box and that seemed to work (so far)Thanks for all the help. |
