To All,
I have just purchased a kl500 to install with my 2950dx in my mobile. Thank you Copper on the smokin deal you gave me on the amp!! 
1) From what I have read about the amp I need to set the dead key between 1-4watts on AM. I want to set it so when the radios RF power knob on high, deadkey is no more than 4 watts, correct? The radio will deadkey around 1 watt with the RF power turned all the way down.
2)Set the high side of RF power so it swings no more than 16 watts on AM, 1-4 ratio correct?
3)SSB needs no more than 10 watt dead key when RF power knob is all the way up, 1-4 ratio equals a 40 watt swing correct? Is the deadkey to high on SSB?
I ran 8 guage wire to the batteries,(F-350 with a diesel w/ 2 900cca batteries ) . Can I run the 2950dx and the RM500 on the same line from the battery? Maybe 6 gauge would be better?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want nice clean audio and power. Just trying to do it right the first time! No over modulated splatter box for me! Please tell me if I am missing anything!!!

There is no dead key on ssb,the meter swings only when there is sound present in the mike,6 gauge would be better for runs longer than 3 feet with that amp it can draw 40 to 50 amps,I would not recommend tapping into the 6 as there will be large voltage and current swings on ssb and you need good regulation for your 2950dx,I know it's a lot of extra work but when you're done you WILL NOT HAVE A SPLATTERBOX,provided you haven't disabled the amc in the radio,leave it and you will be smooth and sublime.Bigbob |

Also I would suggest keeping the dead key at around 1 Watt. It will run cooler that way and will prolong the life of the amp and also in my experience give you much clearer tx.
My 500 will still get warm if I get long winded so I went to Radio Shack and spent $20 on a 4.75 inch 12V cooling fan and using some small bungy cords I had lying around attached it to the amp. I spent another $5 on a cigarette lighter adapter and wired it up. When I start talking for awhile I plug in the fan. Works slick.
Great amp, just don't overdrive it.

dunno if u have your amps ground runing to the battery('s) but the shorter the ground the better run it to the chassis is your best bet and i heard its better when every thing is grounded to the chassis then to just the battery.
