I run my Mic Gain on Radio at 3 o clock and with Power Mic, and at arms length with the DM 452 I can about whisper and get 100% Modulation. With Stock Mic I set it at 7 oclock. As for adding a diode on the 2995DX, sorry but no I haven't heard of one. Lon Tech808 |

you can do the npc diode mod to this radio. i don't have a schem here at home to tell you where to do it. you can get the same result by adjusting the amc to max or removing the limiter. |

Charliebrown, As Tech8541 posted above you can get the same result by Adjusting the AMC. A Properly done NPC Mod is also a Big Plus for radio's but honestly I have not found a reason to do one to my 2995DX as it perform's very well as is. Personally, I have Never seen any reason to remove the limiter in any radio. Lon Tech808 |

I haven't removed the limiter and any of my radios, but instead purchase a quality mic. I have always received good reports. The unusual thing that I hear is, "you are not booming, but you are incredibly clear", I would rather be clear and audible than overdriven and over modulated.

c.brown, it is not good to remove the limiter..but if you do not do the npc modification correctly, the results are the same as removing the limiter. |

i got the npc mod from one of the techs some time ago. i use a stock rci mike with the mike gain all the way open. it never over modulates and with the radio reports so far the modulation is still clear and is better than before. i have more swing than before( 2 watts key to 30 watts swing ). the reason i asked about the limiter was to see what would be the best. i think the npc mod is the best, with the results i have thus far. thanks for your advice and as always i respect you and the other techs for the time and effort you put into your advice for us,so we can get the best out of our equipment. |
