Two questions:

1) Are all split beads made in 43 mix? Do you know where I could acquire some 77, or 73 mix SPLIT torroidal beads for RG-8 sized coax?

Please, no lists of ferrite producers. Only answer this question if you know for a fact where they can be obtained. I do not want mix 43. I want whatever is the very best for the upper HF band. 28-30 Mhz, and they must be SPLIT.

2) I have seen mentions that radio room grounds and antenna grounds should be interconnected with each other. Since this is rarely feasable, how is it done?

I would have to run a connecting heavy gauge wire from the ground rod next to my radio room, along the side of the building for about 12 feet, then around a corner. Then another 20 or so feet to the base of my antenna mast, and then connect it to my ground rod there.

Surely this would not be effective, would it? And wouldn't this also produce a major ground loop? I am far from being an expert, which is why I am asking you for help. And yes, I will be running a little heat from time to time, so the ground is all the more important.

43 material is best from about 80 MHz. and up.

Your ground idea is only slightly flawed. ground the antenna right at the base of the mast or tower, then ground your radio gear to a seperate rod just outside the radio room. That would be much more effective.

Which is why I said that I "do not want 43", and asked if anyone knew for a fact if they make 73, or 77 mix, in a "split bead" form.

Do you? If so, where can I get some?

If you read my post again, you will see that this was not MY ground idea. In fact, It was me that expressed my doubts that this would be effective. I have seen other people recommend it, and I did not see how it would work. That was the point of the entire post.

Legend,

I am sorry I offended you. When responding to posts with limited time, my reading is not as detailed as it needs to be sometimes.

Amidon sells 73 material in split beads.

Offended me? Are you kidding?

I wasn't offended in any way 833. In fact, I highly appreciate your help. You seem like a really great guy.

I was merely straightening out what I perceived as a misunderstanding.

And thank you... I will check out the Amadon site. I just hope it's not in PDF files. I am using Webtv and it cannot open those files.

My best to you...

Hey 833...

Could you please give me the web address or link for Amadon? There are over three thousand websites under that name on my search engine, and I can't find the right one.

i see that they mention grounding the antenna at the groung end of the mast what will this accomplish since each connection inbetween the ground end and the antenna will produce at least 1 ohm per conection and this is with perfectly welded steel, wouldent you think it would be best to ground from the antenna directly to the ground stake. only two conections = 2 ohms versios god nows how many ohms/ ohms=resistance
swr=short wave resistance hence 2 ohms will raise the swr far less than 35 ohms.

just my 2 cents
